A Brief HistoryStoremen Specialty, Inc. was founded in 1973 by Jennings Layman, who engineered an especially reliable design for walk-in coolers and freezers. Despite many years in business, SSI has never had to replace any of its walk-in doors subjected to normal wear and tear. In 1985 Layman was succeeded by his son Eldon, who has remained president to this day.  SSI is located at 4444 Rawley Pike (Rt. 33). Although SSI's staple has always been walk-ins, the company has expanded over the years. SSI offers a huge variety of new and used equipment for supermarkets, delis, restaurants and convenience stores. We carry even the smallest utensils needed to furnish your restaurant or store.
